In Depth: The Saga Continues: Entry 2
I’ve progressed staggeringly since last week, and it’s been great!
I spent an evening drawing a very confusing looking character web, which shows how all of the characters relate to each other and act towards each other. I tried to get a picture of it here, but my computer, being annoying, wouldn’t let me. If I can get it to work, I’ll post it later.
I also spent a couple hours writing out everything that I plan to have happen in my play on a very crowded plan, organized by act. I’m having some difficulty reading it, because I wrote so small, but I now know what direction I plan to go in.
The evening that I planned my characters, I spent about two hours on a baby names website, finding Latin and Greek names whose meanings relate to the character’s personality. For the main lady, rather the Juliet of the play, I wanted someone whose name means “lovely” or “joyous” or something of the sort, because, though she isn’t at the beginning, that is what her personality is like when she is in her element. After quite some time of tedious scrolling, I came across Iris, which means “bringer of joy.” Through a similar process, I found Bonifacio (if Iris is the Juliet, Bonifacio is the Romeo), which means something along the lines of “innocent”, because he is blamed for a crime that he did not do. On request, (haha) I have Lord Jonathan, and my other characters are Duke Actaeon, Augustus, Ballas, and Cordelia.
I’ve written the first four lines of my play, but I’ll keep those to myself until I have a bit more.
Until next time…
